Robert Vidra / President and C.E.O.

Robert Vidra, a trained chef, is the owner of Simply Elegant, now in its 12th year of operation with a full-time Calgary staff of 11 and an additional 30 part-time workers. With over 33 years in the Hospitality and Entertainment business, Robert offers a vast range of experience and knowledge. This experience extends from the logistical creation and implementation of the Airdrie Regional Air Show, to the 1998 Arctic Winter Games held in Yellowknife, the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary and to glamorous parties for dignitaries abroad.

In an industry and town known for high turnover, Vidra has created a culture of loyalty. The Company has a dedicated staff of event and catering professionals who have low turnover and have been loyal to Vidra, the Company, and the clients they serve.

Before he started Simply Elegant, Vidra built his business through on-the-street market research while driving a cab for 4 years. He talked to everyone from receptionists to the CEOs of Calgary’s largest companies, designing a catering company that would best meet the needs of corporate culture.

His ability to see beyond and around difficulty is a hallmark of his approach to business. His entrepreneurial spirit is evident in the unique structure of Simply Elegant and the level of clients with which the Company works. His philosophical approach to business and finance inspires trust and confidence amongst clients, staff and vendors who appreciate his candor and transparency.

Sharon Barwick / Event Producer

Sharon Barwick has been an event planner for Simply Elegant for the last several years, planning events as varied as a $100,000 wedding and corporate events ranging from $5,000 – $250,000.

Prior to joining Simply Elegant, Sharon owned an award-winning and internationally recognized floral and event business in BC. As an events industry professional, she has 15 years of event industry experience including key note speaker, florist, event decorator, event planner and wedding planner in Alberta and British Columbia. Sharon was a guest instructor in Display and Design for Langara College and mentored a number of emerging designers who are now flourishing in the industry.

Sharon is a past board member of ISES, the International Special Events Society. She has been nominated a number of times for Best Wedding in Canada by the Canadian Special Events Society and was the designer on Glacial Fantasia, an event which won international awards.
